The ground floor houses the ticket office, the bookshop and the
permanent exhibition.
The permanent exhibition
200 gifts given to the President in the course of his official duties,
each presented in its context (domestic visits, state visits abroad,
international summits, etc).
An introductory space outlines the history of the presidency of
the Republic and its role within French institutions. The President's
visits in France and abroad are also described with the aid of interactive
terminals. A large mural display illustrates all the state visits
France has made and received since 1995.
The remainder of the permanent exhibition consists of gifts from
all over the world, arranged by geopolitical zone and indicating
who gave them, their country and culture of origin and the visits
during which they were received. Each exhibit is accompanied by
the relevant information concerning it. The President's visits abroad
are complemented by explanations of France's relations with the
country or region, with large maps showing their geographical location.
Summaries of each continent's ongoing development and role in the
world will be updated yearly.
